Phuket Getaway 4 Fun Adventures on Phuket Island

Riverhouse Phuket Clean Energy Villa

Phuket is arguably Thailand’s most well-known island. Aside from being the largest island in the country, it is also known as a top destination for tourists all over the world. What’s not to love about Phuket? It has everything that constitutes a perfect getaway: sandy white beaches, serene blue water, spicy Thai cuisine, and exciting underwater adventures such as diving and snorkeling! You can just imagine how it is to have a river house in Phuket.

Another great thing to note is that Phuket is just a one-hour flight away from Bangkok. Sounds inviting, huh? Aside from the underwater adventures you can experience on Phuket Island, more exciting activities await you as you explore the vast island.

To give you a sneak peek, below are the four most fun adventures you should try when you visit Phuket Island.

1. Discovering the Historic Phuket Town

Phuket Town has many tourist attractions, including restaurants, massage parlors, and hotels. The city’s architectural design mirrors the Chinese occupation coupled with a Portuguese touch, giving an interesting contrast to the traditional Thai architecture in the community.

When in Phuket Town, don’t miss the chance to stroll through its old streets, where you will see its more traditional shophouses, temples, shrines, and Sino-Portuguese mansions. Lastly, your love for the arts will surely be rekindled when you visit Phuket Trickeye Museum that features a 3D art gallery.

2. Immersing in Authentic Rawai Village

If you want to have a close encounter with Thailand’s more traditional way of life, Rawai is the way to go! In this village, you will meet the Moken tribe, known as sea gypsies. Some of the men of the tribe can be your guide during sea trips, while most of them work as fishermen.

There is a small fishing harbor in Rawai village along with beaches replete with coconut palms and fishing boats. When you visit, try riding on a boat and sailing to the islands. What’s more, you will never go hungry in this village as it has local restaurants that cook your freshly-bought seafood from their markets.

3. Hiking to Karon Viewpoint

When you get to Karon Viewpoint, you will see Kata Noi, Kata Yai, and Karon beaches from above. Also, there are many points of interest north of the viewpoint, like beautiful green hillsides, blue oceans, and white surf.

With its viewpoint of heavenly scenery, Karon is Phuket’s most photographed vistas. Heading southwest from Kata Noi Beach, follow the branch road that leads to the island’s southern tip to get to the viewpoint.

4. Witnessing Phuket’s Big Buddha

Big Buddha is one of the most known spots in Phuket. Big Buddha was built back in 2004 and is made up of jade marble. The statue is located above the island, sitting at the top of Nakkerd hills. Buddha’s 45-meter-high monument is at the summit of the hills, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the surroundings.

To get to the hilltop from the six-kilometer road, you must take a cab or tuk-tuk. Be warned, though, that there are steep stairs to climb going up to the gigantic site. This is a great place to unwind and enjoy a serene environment.

Visiting the island of Phuket is such a majestic experience. While you get to know Thailand’s culture and old ways of life, wandering the wonderful island gives you the chance to reconnect with nature and enjoy many wonders at their finest.
